Fail to drive in marked lane

154. (1) Where a highway has been divided into clearly marked lanes for traffic, (a) a vehicle shall be driven as nearly as may be practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from the lane until the driver has first ascertained that the movement can be made with safety.

According to the Facility Association of Ontario, a fail to drive in marked lane is classified as a minor offence and a conviction for this charge could result in an insurance increase ranging from 0-25% depending on how many convictions you already have on your record.

Please be advised, however, that the information above is not representative of all insurance companies.  You will need to contact your insurance broker or insurance company to find out how your insurance will be affected by a conviction.
